Understanding Long and Short Positions in Crypto Pair Trading

A long position in a trading pair, such as BTC/ETH, means you are investing in Bitcoin (BTC) expecting its price to rise, while simultaneously expecting the price of Ethereum (ETH) to fall. Conversely, a short position in BTC/ETH indicates you expect Bitcoin (BTC) to fall in value and Ethereum (ETH) to rise, betting on the price difference.
